An Often Missed Part of Law of Attraction (The Essence of Your Desires)

Posted by law of attraction believer on August 24th, 2008

I find it so interesting to talk to people about Law of Attraction and read a lot of the posts I come across that talk about Law of Attraction. There are lots and LOTS of them out there! On a daily basis there are a smattering of posts that talk about how the Law of Attraction doesn’t always work.

I won’t go into how if you are focused on the lack of what you want, that is what you get and that IS Law of Attraction at work! There is a more subtle component that people don’t always pick up on.

I was watching a video today where the person presenting claimed that it didn’t work all of the time because sometimes you got stuff you never asked for and never thought about and sometimes you never got what you DID want, etc.

One of the core concepts of the Law of Attraction is that we live in a vibrationally based universe, and the exact experience that we attract to ourselves is based on matching the vibration that we are offering. It is the ESSENCE of what we are vibrating that we attract into our experience – this is something that I have heard from Abraham-Hicks for a long time, but I think it is missed by many.

So what does that mean? It means that you attract an experience that vibrates on that same frequency, but not necessarily an exact match to the thought you had in your head.

Let’s explore what that might look like or feel like.

You may decide that you want to live in a particular location. I did that from the time I was a kid – I heard that Arizona was warm all of the time, and the sun was out almost every day. Everything I heard about it sounded good, and I decided that was where I wanted to live when I grew up. I used to tell my parents that all the time – when I grow up I’m going to live in Phoenix! And they would laugh. We lived in the Northeastern part of the United States and it was grey most of the year.

I grew up and sort of forgot about that dream. I stayed in that area for quite a few years, until I took a job as a consultant. Then I started moving around quite a lot. My office was in the Los Angeles area, and sometimes I would live there for a few weeks or months between assignments, working in the office. I didn’t expect to like it there because it was so crowded and bizarre . . . But surprisingly, I had a great time there.

It finally occurred to me that I really got what I had wanted! I thought I had to live in Phoenix but what I was looking for was the sunny and warm part, the exact location really didn’t matter that much. I had the ESSENCE of my desire.

Another example of this might be a relationship. You may dream of the perfect relationship – a partner that you really enjoy spending time with, you never run out of things to talk about, you create a magnificent life with. As you daydream about this person, he or she starts to take shape in your mind – you may picture a certain color of hair, body type, etc. Yet the real ESSENCE of your desired partner is what you are looking for, not an exact match to the PICTURE you have in your head. When you finally meet this person, they may look totally different from how they appeared in your imagination and you could care less – the feeling that you were looking for is there, or something even better than you had ever thought.

In these sorts of examples it is easy to see that there is a slight difference but maybe not that much. But getting the essence of your desires could be less obvious in some cases. You may have a business and you want to be extremely successful. You work and dream, and make pictures of selling hundreds of thousands of widgets. You believe you will be the greatest widget maker ever! But maybe in the process of making your widgets, you stumble upon a new technique that really helps in widget production. Maybe you get a patent for it. And you talk about it to people around you.

Pretty soon you are being invited to speak about your technique and what led you to its discovery. You find an unknown talent for speaking, and soon you are giving seminars and work shops and maybe even appear on Oprah!

You lose interest in widget making and sell the company, but go on to inspire entrepreneurs the world over with your presentations. Maybe you write a best-selling book or two.

You have what you wanted – SUCCESS! People know who you are and admire you, but most of them forget you even made widgets. So while you are not known as being the greatest widget maker ever, you are successful and well known – the ESSENCE of what you wanted.

So dream your dreams and believe in what you want, but keep an open mind about the form they come to you in. It may not be an exact match, but it is the FEELING that you are looking for. The ESSENCE of what you want may show up as something even better than anything you could have imagined!

Law of Attraction and Your Story

Posted by law of attraction believer on August 17th, 2008

Have you read the latest Abraham-Hicks book on Law of Attraction?  It is entitled “Money and The Law of Attraction,” although it is not only about finances as the subtitle tells us – “Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness.”  I’m in!  Another wonderful book from Abraham-Hicks!  I so appreciate their wisdom.

One of the concepts that caught my attention early in the book was that of Your Story.  Perhaps that is a concept that they have mentioned before and I just missed it, but it leapt out at me very strongly as I started to read.  It was a part of the very first chapter.

The point is that you attract your life experience by the story that you tell the universe about your life.  And that you can change that experience by changing the story.

I never thought about it that way!

What kind of story are you telling yourself and others about who you are? And I think it is primarily what we are telling ourself ABOUT ourself – we tend to believe what we say about who we are.  And we can be so convincing that we tell that story to others so that they believe it too.

“Oh, I don’t have the training to be able to handle a job like THAT!”  If that is the message you put out there, you never WILL get a job like that!

“I can’t help being overweight – everyone in my family is that way, it is just a part of my genes.”  So you might as well have another serving of everything, it doesn’t make any difference anyway . . .

What can you do and canNOT do?  How is your health, your body?  What is possible for you?  It all starts with the thoughts that we think and the can’ts and the should’s that we often feed ourselves on a regular basis.

What would happen if we told ourselves a different story?  Everything starts with belief and how you feel.  When we change the story we tell ourself, we change our beliefs about what is possible and how we feel about ourself and about our life.  And when that change occurs within, we start telling our story in a different way to those around us.

“Even though I have never worked in a job quite like that before, I catch on quickly and love to learn new things – I think I would do really well in a position like that!”

“Seconds?  No, thanks – I feel just right with what I’ve had and overeating makes me feel uncomfortable.”

It can change everything!  And it starts with a story . . .  we ALL can tell stories!  For some reason that concept seems like such a simple way to become the person I want to be – tell my story as the person I want to be and before I know it my life experience will reflect that!

Please let me know what you think!
